Matt and Anna are the nerds behind BBQ Nerds. We love cooking, science, gadgets, and technology. This website is a celebration of all of that and more!
BBQ Nerds is all about making delicious cooking both quick and easy and low and slow. Here, you'll find recipes for food-lovers who like having fun! Whether it's tips and instructions, powerful insight and knowledge, or even just pure, fun entertainment, we hope you enjoy our slice of cyberspace.
Why did we make this website?
We started this page for ourselves...a place for us to curate our recipes and share them with friends and family. Sure, old school recipe books work...but this is the 21st century. I thought a web page would work great for us! It all started with a recipe from my dad. He gave me his recipe for Chicago Style Italian Beef a few years ago. It was always a family favorite and he made it for most family parties. His Italian Beef is honestly better than most places I've had it at in Chicago. It is a great recipe! I shared it with quite a few friends and family through email, but thought that hosting it on a website would be great - we could share it with the world!
Keeping things going...
Things kind of started rolling from there... We went to the Central Florida Fall EggFest a few years ago, and won a Large Big Green Egg in a raffle! This was my second Big Green Egg (I had been cooking on one for maybe 10 years). When we won, the organizers said, jokingly, that we had to cook at the next eggfest...and we took their challenge serious, signing up to cook the next year. We needed a cooking team name, and BBQ Nerds was born! We found ourselves cooking for people, developing a brand, getting social media followers...and people started asking if we were caterers...if we had a restaurant...if we could come cook at their event! We were just doing this for fun...and all of a sudden we have a real "thing" here!
We are still exploring what we want to do with this, shaping our slice of the internet to represent "us"
