Have you ever been to an Eggfest? I'm not talking scrambled, hard boiled and over easy, but a celebration of the Big Green Egg! https://biggreenegg.com/eggfests/
Last year, Anna and I attended the Central Florida Fall Eggfest and I was fortunate to win a Large Big Green Egg in a raffle! I was elated. We drove to the fest in Anna's Nissan Versa, and somehow we loaded the egg into it and drove 3 hours home with it. I was relegated to the back seat, of course. It made it home in one piece. Just to clarify, a Versa is NOT a recommended mode of transport for a large Big Green Egg.

The emcee of the event jokingly said that since we won the egg, we were obligated to cook at the eggfest the following year. We laughed it off at first, but then thought, why not? We weren't professional cooks by any means, but not everyone at the event was. Sure, there were some professional chefs and caterers, but we tasted some great food made by enthusiastic home cooks. Anna and I are enthusiastic home cooks. This wasn't a competition or anything - we were just sharing our excitement for cooking with other people that also enjoy cooking. (I am not a very competitive person - I have never even won the Underboob Rib Fest that we "compete" in every year.
We joked about cooking in the eggfest all year, and then started talking to friends that have cooked in eggfests before to really consider it. Thank you for the support, TJ and Laura! We started testing out recipes...trying things out on the egg...and realized that we were making some damn good food. I've done a lot of tailgating, so why not have some fun at the eggfest!
We wrote out an ambitious menu of bite sized samples, trying to keep our costs low but our flavors memorable. I'll go into more detail later, but suffice to say, the eggfest was a success! We ended up serving maybe 500 samples for under $200. So many people asked if we had recipes/social media/website that we both knew that we had to finally get this website that I had been sitting on off the ground.
Anna made us some awesome aprons, so BBQ Nerds it is!

At this point, I'm not sure what this site will be. I imagine we are going to "nerd out" (that is a term, right?) about everything related to cooking and BBQ. We plan to share recipes (of course), possibly do some equipment/gadget testing, maybe share some BBQ restaurant and recipe reviews, and tell stories about our Adventures in BBQ!
